Happy Holidays

We’re skipping pics with Santa this year in favor of these sophisticated shots

We received an early present this season and we’re tickled pink. Three of our favorite designs have been featured by design star Vanessa De Leon in her space at Holiday House 2019 benefitting The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Founded more than a decade ago by interior designer and breast cancer survivor Iris Danker, Holiday House has grown into a must-see showhouse experience that transforms the historic Academy Mansion on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Far more than an inspiring venue that gets everyone in the spirit, the event has raised more than $1 million for this worthy cause. Talk about gifts that keep on giving!

With some 15 high-profile designers from the New York area displaying their unique creations, De Leon took over the townhouse’s master lounge on the third floor. Dubbing her vision “The Right-Wing Lounge,” Vanessa used dark blue hues to set the tone and add a sense of mystery throughout the space. In it, visitors encounter a spectacular billiard table, cool pop art and a life-size bird cage, and the words “Better to be a free bird than a captive king” scrawled across one wall in impossible-to-ignore neon. Her thought-provoking message was underscored by the embossed pattern of our Barcelona Credenza, wrapped in German silver.

DeLeon’s goal this season is to tempt Holiday House attendees to choose between captivity and the freedom of leisurely play, and it’s little wonder more than a few decided to pour themselves a drink and stay awhile in this hip holiday spot. After all, who wouldn’t want to perch on a pair of our Orchid Chairs in burnished cast aluminum and set their cocktail on our Jax Drink Table in honed black-and-white marble?

While we’re usually ready for a long winter’s nap right about now, thanks to Vanessa and her Holiday House creation, we’re inspired to stay up and play awhile. You’ll have to hurry if you want to join in the fun. Holiday House is open through December 15th at 125 East 65th Street in Manhattan.
